2021 Race Licences

Postby suebmick » Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:51 am

Just in case anyone is confused like we were.....
Just got both our application paperwork in the post today. Mick's envelope contained a medical form, but mine didn't, AND we both had a note about deferring licence/medicals until next year.
So I rang MSA to clarify

I don't need a medical for 2021 licence as I had a medical after 60 & I haven't yet turned 65.
Mick had a medical before he turned 65 in May, so now he needs a medical for 2021 & then won't need one until he turns 70.

BUT....as we can't get anywhere near our GP, or our normal "other" GP who normally does our medicals privately, or don't want to ask the 2 GP's who are neighbours to do us a favour because they're all manic with the roll-out of C-vaccines, FOR NOW we can both apply online & there should be a new "code" on the form to bypass the need for a medical for Mick as he has no underlying medical problems. But, assuming doctors are quieter this time next year, he will have to do one then.

AND if you apply online by 31st Jan there's a 25% discount.

Stay safe everybody & get your licence done online pronto!

Apparently, my licence is on its way - a very quick turnaround. I didn't need a medical after all, but I don't know yet whether I got the discount.
Getting another season is bonus at my time of life,

Mine seemed straight forward too, no medical or eye test needed and an email saying that the license was on the way. Again not sure if the discount has been applied yet.

Just had a go online and was refused, three yes answer in the question section. Ticked the box for the discount, post is rather slow at the moment.

I did mine by post and it came back within a few days. I avoid on-line forms where I can because it seems the key word in the phrase Artificial Intelligence is artificial rather than intelligence.
I did have to answer yes to one question on the medical declaration but only the one about wearing glasses.
