Hague car history

I am trying to research and record the history of our H750F race cars. Any put would be gratefully received such as:

- car specs
- any notable achievements (championships wins etc)
- previous owners
- etc etc

This one I believe is an Ex-Alan Stilborn Hague.
Can anyone shed light on 'which' Hague this was? Either 78,79 or 81 ?

I believe that this car was Jonathan Salem's car which would have been the 81. Jonathan can probably provide more detail. The bodywork was built by the Salems, it looked like a conventional Hague when Chris first campaigned the car.

Interesting... Chris thought John Salem bought the Hague 82 (at the end of 81). He wondered if this was the ex-Paul Morris, ex- Ernie Frost car. However...this was his best guess and you could well be correct with what you say.

The current owner Derek Bell said John Addy (who he bought the car from) also thought this was the ex John Saleem car. In between owned by Alan Stillborn. Would this all tie in?

Interestingly I'm also trying to find out more about Paul Mason old car. A post on the forum suggests this is the ex Ian Allen car? If so, would this make the car below the Hague 82?

The car does not appear to be a Hague/ Wessex/ Rapide, which all used the same neat bracket between the top wishbones to support the spring /damper using a connecting rod down to the rear of the lower wishbone chassis pickup point therefore negating any need for a chassis bracket for the spring/damper unit. The Hague's generally were all tiny, with a much shorter chassis, my Hague (an 81) had a wheelbase of just 74" and used a the narrow BMC Midget rear axle with no offset. The Rapide seems to have been a wider longer version of a Hague but using identical suspension and hub components. The Wessex was the the first incarnation of this series of cars and used an aluminium monocoque chassis but identical in all other respects to the later spaceframe Hagues (dimensions, suspension, engine/gearbox position).

While this chassis shares some design features of a Hague the tube sections are much larger, the tube arrangement to the floor area in the driver/passenger area is completley different.

This is interesting. Mike Dorset's Wessex has never been raced (i'm told). So what date would you place on this?

Looking at the photographs again it has the hallmarks of a Hague which has been modified following an accident. The 2x2 lower rail at the front LHS has no wholes drilled out suggesting crash damage, the front chassis was probably strengthened at the same with the addition of the damper/spring brackets rather than the normal Hague arrangement of connecting brackets off the top wishbone points sand the lower rear wishbone pick up point

The chassis sides follows the Hague 81 practice but the rear transom and floor tube arrangement is different

The Wessex CH767 was the first car Chris Hague campaigned with, winning the 1976 championship. Not sure when they become known as a Hague but under a feature in Autosprt(15/03/1979) of British Racing Cars the Hague 79 is advertised with photograph, I assume from this means my old Hague81 was built in 1981.

Interesting you say that. I've learnt that there was 2 Hague 81's (as you say, built in 81 etc). It's been suggested that Derek's Hague is a heavily modified 81 and therefore the last Hague which was built.

As I understand the cars built before 78 were monocoque cars, Wessex, Chaldicott etc. From 78 onwards all the cars were built with a space frame and were Hague's. The first one being the 787 ie built in 78.
