I bought 3 engines and two diffs from a breaker in Somerset for £50. Forget what the breaker was called but he was in Krewcerne. I think that how you spell it.

Crewkerne? Must have been Pikeys!

They are still marvelling at the wonders of 'electricity'

Platform shoes are big sellers down in Somerset. I understand it keeps the knuckles out of the puddles. ;)

Steady!
In Crewkerne its illegal to marry outside your own family....

I am fortunate in being a little further away from there, we all lean against gate posts supping cider and chewing a piece of straw here on the somerset/dorset border..

Just to clarify, I'm in Witshire, Andrew's in Southampton
Both on a tight budget.

Andrew's SURT team NEEDS a reasonable engine pretty quickly so they can race.
My understanding is SURT can currently easily outperform Flossy :flossy:
I'm in no rush, and condition is less important.
Having purchased my chassis on eBay, I'm tempted to try and built the 'cheapest' car possible,
but I want to end up with some Good Value fun/racing [in 2010]. 8-)

The stage I'm at, I think there is more advantage in not knowing the full cost of racing,
but equally I know it's not going to be peanuts.

It would be better to know the full enjoyment before you know the full cost. That way you will see it as the best money you ever spent.
After all debts are are the only thing you can take with you to the grave, except perhaps suttee and :flossy:

If we could find 3 engines for £50 then that'd be perfect - one for SURT, second one for Dad and third one for me.

I'm probably not giving away any big secrets by saying that hopefully a two-pronged family attack is planned for 2011 or just before
Food costs can be saved by finishing ahead of Andrew and getting to the sponsors buffet first
