Formula 1300

Hi all, I have tried to copy this from the Classic Clubmans site. I dunno if it will work but here goes!

My car was called a Marshall 1A. I have a couple of photos of it from before I bought it, I'll try and get them on. I got this info. from a chap called Dennis Carter.
It's actually in quite decent order, the chassis had been shotblasted and powder coated, new alloy panels fitted and new AVO shock units fitted. I need to do the alloy side pods and tidy up the bodywork, and the whole thing will be quite presentable.

Hmmm. The image bit hasn't worked out too well, however,
Here is the important stuff.

The following is a copy of the relevant posts I have made, and their subsequent answers, on Classic Clubmans.

Hi all, can anyone tell me when the Formula 1300 started and finished?

Here are a couple of photos of the car in question.
I am trying to find out if it is eligible to run in HRCA here in Ireland and it just depends on how early F 1300 started.
Many thanks.

Your best bet is to get in touch with the 750 m/c, http://www.750mc.co.uk/
Keith Messer there will have all the knowledge for F1300.

Hi

I have spoken to Robin Knight who's 750MC ran F1300 almost throughout its history before it was 'canned' and arrived as a Class of Classic Clubmans.

From Robin's database he tells me that the 1st F1300 Champion was in 1954 and the last in 2000.

We donlt know when it passed from 1172 side valve Ford engines thro' 1200 and on to 1300 engines; a chap called Keith Messer probably does...

Hope that helps you.

The car looks like a Tasman, is that correct??

Spoke to my dad, who is an ex f1300 builder/competitor, when he was visiting yesterday and he reckoned that the f1200-f1300 change was circa 73. Unfortunately he couldn't be more specific than that but maybe it'll help!

Cheers,
Andy
