Having lost my local machinist a few weeks ago – had a heart attack at 52 – today I went to visit Ben Collett and his small team at Carbinium. I just wanted to say that I was really impressed with the quality of the work they are producing, for a wide range of different industries. Despite it being a 420 mile round trip, Ben will now be doing all the machining on the ESC. I went up with three projects, and left leaving Ben with five, and completely changed my thinking on a sixth – the speed at which material can be machined with exceptional surface finishes was a revelation. Olly has been designing the gear lever mechanism to fit my chassis, and this will evolve into complete cable operated kits that Ben will be able to offer, either with "my housing" or modified versions to suit individual needs.
