Paint

Been rather stuck since the demise of Humbrol
Can't find a hand-paint enamel paint for the chassis except in tiny tins (for those of you without the knowledge of Dick Harvey....Humbrol enamel will crack if there's a problem in the metal underneath, therefore allowing you to spot a problem & mend metal BEFORE it breaks! It's done me proud over the years & saved a lot of hassle)

But....now come across Jawel Paints. They will make virtually whatever type of paint you want, in a vast array of colours

Sue,
How does this paint do when subjected to the dropped spanner test?

I have found Rustoleum Combi Colour to be a very good brush paint. Like Hammerite it can be painted onto rusty metal but it is less brittle and the brush marks flow out well, particularly on a matt surface or a light undercoat.

Yes, but being "less brittle", it DOESN'T crack when the metal underneath flexes

That's where Humbrol showed you a potential problem BEFORE the metal breaks. Much safer in my mind

It is a good point - a bit of Harvey wisdom.
I really meant more chip resistant, it still showed a rusty line where we had a fatigue crack - design changed for customer cars !

Thanks for the Humbrol and Jawel paint tips.

Anyone tried the following?

Paintman Light Aircraft Grey: https://paintman.co.uk/shop/light-aircraft-grey/ (note matching primer)
or Tekaloid Aircraft Grey: http://www.smithandallan.com/products/t ... l-colours/ (painting tips: http://coachpainting.uk/tekaloid.html)

Cheers
